Hiking in the Pyrenees!

Hey! Do you miss the great mountains in the Pyrenees with the great view over the high mountains nearby and the beautiful nature? This time we are hiking from France to Andorra!

Note: This is just an idea. The dates are chosen randomly and whatever is written here might change at any moment.

Here’s the idea: We can take this night train from Paris to the Pyrenees that arrives there around 8am. In order to do so, we can take a train from Düsseldorf around 4pm the previous day and change in Paris. Then we will hike following the three trails below.

Day I:

We will hike from the train station to Juclar. In terms of distance it’s not a lot, but it goes up quite a lot. There’s a mountain refuge at Juclar.

Day II:

We will hike from Juclar to Pas de la Casa. We will mostly follow the HRP (meaning we are going to have amazing views!!). We will hopefully find an accommodation at Pas de la Casa, which is a town in Andorra, so maybe we can enjoy the cheap alcohol!

Day III:

We will hike from Pas de la Casa to Porté Puymorens. We can hopefully take the night train leaving around 7pm. If we manage to do so, we can change trains at Paris in the morning and we should be able to reach Düsseldorf around noon the next day.

This plan can also be extended to continue along the HRP towards the peak of Carlit. In that case, you can make a layover at the Bouillouses lake and the next day you can take the super famous small yellow train from Bolquère to either go to Perpignan or go back to Latour-de-Carol (which is one station after Porté-Puymorens).

According to my estimate, the train journeys could cost 200€ to 300€ in total and the accommodations 120€ to 160€. You might also be interested to combine the trip with trips to other destinations like Toulouse, Bordeaux, Montpellier or Marseille.
