Hiking around Jülich and Sophienhöhe!
Hey! Did you know that there are also historical artefacts in NRW? It’s time for you to find them out! This time we are going to Jülich and walk around the Sophienhöhe, which is one of the most famous slag heaps around this area!

So the plan is as follows: we’re gonna see each other at Düsseldorf Hbf at 09:15. Then:
- Dep: 09:40 Düsseldorf Hbf Gl. 16
- Arr: 10:38 Düren Gl. 1
- Dep: 11:21 Düren Gl. 23
- Arr: 11:36 Jülich Forschungszentrum
Then we start hiking. Easy, isn’t it? If you come from a different city, feel free to join us wherever you want on the way!
Then we’ll walk according to this map (in kml-format) or this map (in gpx-format). The total distance is something like 18.6km. We’ll have a break at Sophienhöhe (no toilet!). The total duration of the hike according to Komoot is 4:58. We will probably be back in Düsseldorf Hbf around 19:30 (with considerable uncertainty). Komoot says this track is of average difficulty. So don’t think too much and just enjoy! It would be helpful if you’d bring something to eat and a picnic blanket. You are also very welcome to bring a ball/frisbee, a guitar and more!
Regardless of the weather, I will NOT cancel the event, so please check it out yourselves and decide whether to come or not yourselves.
