Hiking from Hohenlimburg to Dahl
There was a huge personal achievement of mine last week: I ran a full marathon. I had tried it twice before, but every time I had to walk quite a significant amount of time. This time, I managed to run through, and even though I hadn’t really cared about the time, I managed to run under 4 hours. I’m very happy about it and also very proud of myself.
In the meantime, the others had a hike with a huge group last week, as Davy organized one combined with wine tasting. This week, as there was no particular event and the weather was also pretty bad, there were clearly less people, although I have to say compared to the time when Meetup was practically dead, it was still a significant size.
Hohenlimburg used to be a train station we visited fairly often until a few years ago, because it lies on the edge of the Sauerland, meaning there are quite some hiking trails, and it was still within the VRR area, meaning we could travel there for free. It’s been some time since we went there last time, and somewhat it looked kind of dead today.
There was quite a significant uphill at the beginning. The city of Hohenlimburg itself is actually quite steep. I don’t know how people are living there. I was more afraid of going through wild areas, but it was fairly well organized.

After the initial slope, it was rather relaxed. Compared to other hikes around this area, the whole track was actually quite relaxed today.
We had a break when there was a more or less good view over the Dahl area. That’s the valley that goes from Hagen to the south. Since the ground was still wet from yesterday’s rain, I took my picnic blanket, but as you might already know, my body is just too rigid for me to sit on the ground, so only the others profited from it.

Lyban and Rahul had nearly the same clothes. Decathlon made the fashion really monotonous.
Hohenlimburg has this huge castle. We could go at least till the gate of the castle before and enjoy a nice view over the city. Now they made an extra gate below, so that we cannot even see the view any more. These capitalists.
Google was saying that the ice cream shop in Hohenlimburg was closed. It was apparently open in the end, but I still went to the usual café, but I didn’t ask the others to join me, because we had only half an hour to the train, and the next train was going to come 2 hours later. So I didn’t have an ice cream, but I’m still very satisfied with today’s hike and the cake I could get.
