Weekend hiking trip to Rurberg! (2019-05-25)

Hey! See how blue the sky and how green the trees are! It’s May! Let’s make a memorable weekend with cool people! This time, I’m proposing a weekend hike to Rurberg, which lies in the Eifel, an extremely beautiful region near the Belgian border!

The plan is quite simple: we’ll see each other in front of Düsseldorf Hbf at 10:15. Then:

Departure: Düsseldorf Hbf platform 16 at 10:39 (RE1)
Arrival: Düren platform 1 at 11:38
Departure: Düren platform 4a at 12:20 (RTB RB21)
Arrival: Heimbach (Eifel) at 13:06

Then we start hiking. Easy, isn’t it? If you are a student in NRW, you don’t need an extra ticket. If not, each of us will buy an EinfachWeiterTicket (NB: EWT is valid only with Ticket2000 or YoungTicketPlus or maybe also FirmenTicket, so please make sure that you have one, or you find someone who has it).

At the end of the day, we should arrive at the youth hostel of Rurberg, which is at the top of a hill. I already booked a few rooms in total of 20 people, although I guess they’re gonna be flexible if we should be one or two more or less. It costs 24€ per person!

The next day, we’ll hike back to the station, where we’re going to take a different trail. In both ways, it’s going to be fairly hilly, although it’s going to be easier on the second day.
