Hey! Working from home all the time? Maybe it’s time to get fresh air! This time I’m proposing a hike from Remscheid Lüttringhausen to Schwelm, which lies in the beautiful hilly area on the edge of Bergisches Land!
So the plan is as follows: we’re gonna see each other in front of Düsseldorf Hbf at 10:15am. Then:
- Dep: 10:40 Düsseldorf Hbf – Platform 7 (RE 10415)
- Arr: 11:08 Wuppertal-Oberbarmen – Platform 3
- Dep: 11:22 Wuppertal-Oberbarmen – Platform 6 (S 7)
- Arr: 11:33 Remscheid-Lüttringhausen – Platform 1
Then we start hiking. Easy, isn’t it? If you come from a different city, feel free to join us wherever you want on the way! It’s within the VRR region so if you have a Ticket 2000/Semester ticket/Young Ticket Plus, you can travel there for free. Even if you don’t it’s very likely that someone can take you for free so just be there in time!
Then we’ll walk according to this map (in kml-format) or this map (in gpx-format). The total distance is something like 17 km. We’ll have a break in Bayenburg. It would be helpful if you’d bring something to eat and a picnic blanket.
Regardless of the weather, I will NOT cancel the event, so please check it out yourselves and decide whether to come or not yourselves.
This event is also organized on Meetup. Check it out from this page!
For further useful info read this (highly recommended).
Hope to see you there!
Coronavirus guideline: Following the local government instructions, please respect the social-distancing rule, i.e. from the beginning of the event till the end, a minimum distance of 1.5 m to any person in the group is required. In particular, this means:
- Don’t occupy two seats next to each other on the train
- If you bring a picnic blanket, don’t share it with other people
- Don’t share food or water
- If you go to a restaurant during break, local rules may apply. Please inform yourselves beforehand if you plan to go there.
Hey! Finally we’re going to make one of our dreams come true! We’re going to the Black Forest! This time I’m proposing a weekend trip to Karlsruhe, which lies on the Northern tip of the Black Forest!
Day I (November 26, Friday):
We’re gonna see each other at Düsseldorf. Our journey will look like this:
- Dep: 16:22 Düsseldorf Hbf – Platform 15 (ICE 725)
- Arr: 17:33 Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf – Platform Fern 4
- Dep: 17:52 Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf – Platform Fern 5 (ICE 201)
- Arr: 18:58 Karlsruhe Hbf
Day II (November 28, Saturday):
We’ll go to Baden-Baden and walk according to the trail below:
No plan yet. We’ll go back to Düsseldorf with the train below:
- Dep: 16:12 Karlsruhe Hbf (EC 6)
- Arr: 19:30 Düsseldorf Hbf – Platform 17
As always, I already booked everything (for 10 people this time). With the train ticket and the stay at the hostel, it’s going to cost 110€ per person. Don’t transfer the money yet.

Hey it’s cold, so let’s enjoy the moment with something we wouldn’t be able to do when it’s warm outside! This time I’m proposing our very first snow hike at Bad Berleburg, which lies in the mountain ranges of Sauerland!
So the idea is simple: we’re gonna see each other at Bad Berleburg in the evening of Jan. 22. I booked a holiday house there and in principle up to 10 people can stay. It’s going to be probably 65€ per person for two nights (to be confirmed…). They also have a sauna for 50€ (i.e. 5€ per person?).
Frankly I have no idea how to do snow hikes properly, so let me know if you have suggestions!
Updates will follow …

Hey! It’s Easter! Just lying around at home? There’s a much better way to enjoy the long weekend! Let’s go to Dresden and explore this beautiful area called Sächsische Schweiz!
The plan is simple and incomplete: we’re gonna go to Pirna at some point on Apr. 9. For now I don’t know whether we’re gonna get a group ticket or we simply say we go there individually. I got an entire holiday apartment for 10 people (with more beds, which may or may not be available according to the regulations in place).
We will then hike for two days. I’ll update the trails at some point.
It’s probably going to be somewhere between 100€ and 200€ depending on whether I’m going to buy a ticket for everyone or not.
